At the start of each fiscal year the current serving board, of the Brandon chapter, will determine and set the monetary amount for the current fiscal year for scholarships to be awarded. A scholarship committee of five Brandon chapter members will serve to accept and narrow down scholarship applicants based on eligibility and application. Scholarship winner may only be awarded one scholarship per year, with the active serving board members making the final decisions.
For the current fiscal scholarship quarter, the board has voted on $500.00 for the year. Awarded amount will not exceed $250.00 per scholarship. More than one scholarship winner may be awarded. The active serving board of the Brandon chapter will determine the amount awarded to each applicant based on criteria set forth by the scholarship committee.
The current application period will be Spring and Fall.
February 1 through February 29. Awarded between March & April.
September 1 through September 30. Awarded between October and November.
Applications at this time must be requested. Online applications are currently not available.
Eligibility requirements for applicants.
1. All applicants must be an active New World Celt Member.
2. Active paid members over the age of 15 must attend 6 meetings of the last 12 meetings.(Sign in verification will be required from the chapter in which the applicant belongs). Applicants will be required to provide a presentation, or essay explaining how the scholarship will promote or educate the Celtic heritage.
3. Active paid members under the age of 15 will be required to provide one of the following: Essay, presentation, or video, explaining or showing how the scholarship will promote or educate them in the Celtic heritage.
4. All applicants must participate in 8 hours of volunteering in New World Celt promotions. Examples would be assisting with St. Patrick's Day Tent, 4th of July safety officers, serving on a committee, pouring beer at a New World Celt event, or by bringing in a new member. 1 new member equals 1 hour.
Scholarship committee members are not eligible to apply. If a member of the scholarship committee or active serving board members family applies for a scholarship, that board/committee member is not eligible to vote.
Application will only be retained for one year.
Please note that you do not have to be a member of the Brandon chapter to apply. All chapters of the New World Celts are encouraged to apply.
